Ireland’s Leading Jazz Guitarist Tommy Halferty’s and his critically acclaimed rhythm section Dave Redmond on Double-Bass and Kevin Brady Drums perform their first concert of 2020. This trio to date has been performing Internationally playing Halferty’s new original compositions which feature a blend of improvised music, swing, rock & blues. Halferty is one of the leading exponents of Jazz Guitar Improvisation from Ireland, having performed nationally and Internationally for over 30 years.
What the critics say:
‘Guitarist Tommy Halferty is part of that golden generation of six-stringers that emerged in the 1970s, whose ears were snagged by the speed and technical bravura of John McLaughlin and, a little later, Pat Metheny. But Halferty also has a particular devotion to the more subtle approach of John Abercrombie, and, as the Derryman matures, Abercrombie’s influence is becoming more apparent. Halferty’s excellent trio features the first-call mainstream rhythm team of bassist Dave Redmond and drummer Kevin Brady. Contributed by Cormac Larkin – The Irish Times
